WCBS TV NYC movie poster 1960s BEND OF RIVER James Stewart Rock Hudson western

From a former employee of either CBS or one of their advertising agencies in the NY area.
This poster was produced for the Schaefer Beer sponsored “Schaefer Award Theater” that ran in the NYC area from 1959 to 1968. Theater release movies were shown on TV (WCBS Channel 2) with little commercial interruption and that was a BIG DEAL back in those days. It happened 9 times a year.
WCBS had these posters produced especially for these Schaefer Award Theater TV showings.
Posters for these showings were only issued regionally in the NY area and were made for bus stops and subways— so they were produced in much lesser quantities than a normal movie poster. I would think only a few 100, probably less than 300, were issued for each movie in this series. It could be way less than that. These were probably displayed for less than a month, maybe only a couple of weeks.
Based on the dates (month and day) listed on the posters themselves, the ones I have seem to range from 1965-1968. I have posters for 7 different movies (all listed separately)….

(1959) with Doris Day and Rock Hudson,
Wuthering Heights
(1939) with Merle Oberon and Laurence Olivier. If any of these are not listed, then they have sold.
SIZE– 46″ x 60″
This poster is RARE and examples in any condition just do not show up . Posters issued for subway, bus or other street use almost never survive. Plus these tend to be graphically much more simplistic than a standard issue movie poster because they were usually viewed from 20-100+ feet away.
CONDITION
–considering size and age, this poster has survived remarkably well. Significant wear, if any, is concentrated mostly along the top and bottom edges due to storage. There may be archival tape reinforcement, faint staining (which is usually only seen on the back side), some color rubbing or other minor wear. It is possible that this poster was never actually used. LOOK AT ALL PHOTOS.
